  • problem with clip management (XDCAM HD/EX)

Posted by Filippo Ferlini on March 3, 2008 at 12:48 am

    The scenario is:
    FCP 6.0.2, a MacPro (10.4.11) and a MacBook Pro (10.5.2), importing from XDCAM HD (PDW-F30, PDW-U1 and EX1), using XDCAM Transfer 2.5.1.

I import a large disk or SxS card. And start a new project from zero.
In the browser window I can drag and drop directly to timeline until the clip number 18 (more or less). After this I can not select a clip. When I double click the clip go to the preview window and at this moment I can drag and drop to timeline.

This in view/browser items/large icons. When I switch to view/browser items/list the clips are double or more with the same name. The disk occupation is for only one clip.

It is very difficult to work.

    any advice?

    Many thanks

The double-clip problem is a known issue. I had hoped that Sony addressed this in v. 2.5.1.
I guess not. The solution is not to import the clips from inside FCP. Launch the File transfer program independently and the import the folder into FCP.

    workaround!!

problem happens when the clip list nears the bottom of the browser window

    so

make your browser window really tall
    and/or
drag the clips into a bin as you go (before they reach the bottom

    whoop
