Problem With Automated Tasks
I have a slight issue at the moment with my Photoshopping projects and would really appreciate a bit of assistance. I’m trying to run an automated task for watermarking my pictures in batch, ready for uploading to websites such as Flickr. The problem is, after each image in the task is edited, it prompts me to choose a folder for saving which defeats the whole point of running the automated task in the first place.
Underneath is an image showing the actions i have set up for the task. The save section is enlarged so you can see what’s going on inside there.

Also, here is the automation window which shows my current settings.

I have tried adjusting most of these settings already, such as choosing the specific folder as the destination and unticking the box below that, but nothing seems to have any effect.
Any suggestions?

2 steps to fix it. 1) eliminate the Open and Save from the action which triggers the save as window. Basically, to get the script to run right, remove any open or save commands. 2) once you remove those parts, just use Photoshop’s Image Processor (File >> Scripts >> Image Processor) to execute it, change your files, etc. and it will automatically save it all wherever you want, let you specify file formats, pick compression, resize if needed, etc. Choosing the actions is located at the bottom of the Images Processor dialog where you can select from the dropdown. It will do the open, execute your action, and save as for you en masse and you supply the script to do the watermarking only (remember to flatten before you stop recording unless they will be PSDs).
Save early. Save often.

Excellent, thank you for the informative response! I used the method you kindly explained with the Image Processor script, and it worked perfectly first time. This problem had bugging me for the past couple of days and was holding me back from getting along with my project, so i greatly appreciate your assistance. From now on i’ll perhaps just run my tasks this way instead as it seems to be less problematic. Cheers once again!
