problem with alpha channel in .FLV export
Hi there,
I want to export a simple AE composition that has a transparant background to the .flv format.
1. I exported my AE comp to a lossless avi for both RGB and alpha channel. (Tested it, and the alpha channel was preserved succesfully).
2. Then when I try to convert the avi to a the flv format using on2 Flix Pro, I do not succeed in converting the alpha channel aswell:
– When I uncheck the Alpha box in video settings, the movie converts succesfully but transparant background is lost.
– When I do check the Alpha box, the output flash video seems to be 100% transparant (In other words I do not see anything)
(Even not when I vary between different alpha bitrate percentages)Could you please help with this?

First off, you should be rendering, not exporting.
(Composition > Make Movie)
Not all programs read AVI with Alpha Properly. I’d suggest you render as a QuickTime with Animation Compression, setting it to export RGB+Alpha, and make sure you use “Straight (Unmatted)” and not “Premultiplied” – watch this video for info on that:

Thx alot for your comment, this certainly has helped me! (Although I only seem to get good results with flv export now and not swf, hmm strange..)
