  • Problem with alpha chanel from AE (Windows) to AVID Mediacomposer

Hello everybody, I´m a Newbie from Germany

I have a problem with titles I´ve made for a short film which my daughter made
(she studies directing in Berlin but I live 600 km away from here)

I created the titles in After Effects CS5 (WIN 7) with a Gloweffect and slight wave movements.
I rendered them with Quicktime, PNG, Quality 100, RGB+ alpha chanel integrated,
    1920×1080 without background.
I`ve send this file to the editor in Berlin who works with AVID Mediacomposer.

In his version the Glow seems to be black instead of the Glow colour I had.
    See screenshot AE:

    and screenshot AVID:

(The difference of the background is ok because I worked with another part of the film.)

I had problems with transparency of the Glow when I tested it by importing the file in Premiere CS5 but the glow colour wasn`t black.
    This is realy strange.

I hope someone can give me a helping hand how to export titles from AE (WIN7) to AVID the best way. I already tried a lot of things but everything was a dead end street.

    Thank you for your support,

    Andy

    I’ve run into this before.

Two fixes that have worked for me in the past.
    – Export as a series of png files with alpha channel rather than a quicktime

    and/or

-set your compositions default background color to white instead of black.

Thank you very much for quick answer.
I will try all of the proposals and be back to report. Thanks so far.

    Hi,

    sorry, it took a while.
So my problem is solved. I tried first to change background to white and rendered a PNG serie. Now I got the message from Berlin that everything looks good. No more black shadows.

So thank you so much Christopher and everybody else who gave me good advises!

Have a smooth and creative day,

    Andreas
