  • Problem PTT from Timeline “Copy Ihibit” warning???!!!!

    Hi
Time for some help from you “pros”. Vegas 5.0d. Never had this problem before and can’t figure it out.

Got a project finished on the time line. I took the video, did the editing. Set a tape in my Sony GV-D1000 selected the entier timelilne for printing to tape. Set a 20 second color bar.

3 times I tried to PTT and 3 times the recording stopped at 27m 19s 26f. Thought my editing deck had gone bad and I just got it back from a warranty repair. So just now I connected my VX2000 and started the PTT process again and watched it on the LCD screen on my camera. Now I see the “COPY INHIBIT” warning and the recording stops. The playback continues though as nothing happened.

I have checked everything I can think of. Capture folder’s properties said “read-only” so I unchecked that but it comes back. I haven’t changed any settings I can think of in Vegas. Never had this before.

Does anyone have any ideas? I can render to an AVI then PTT using the PTT function in the capture utility and that works though but it’s an extra step and I need the color bars at the beginning.

    Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the world of DRM (Digital Restrictions Madness). What was the source? Something in the video is triggering the copy protection circuit.

Can you re-edit to avoid the fail point?

(Think this is fun? Just wait until the some of plethora of copy prevention schemes in HD start to backfire and burn ordinary consumers.)

    Hi Steve

No it’s not DRM, it’s noise in the video. I can’t really re-edit as I’m out of time on this project and have to get the master done. Anyway read the post above. I misspelled inhibit and it got posted again.

I just rendered to an AVI and used the PTT function in the Capture utility. There’s something (noise) in the tape at that spot. I tried wiping out the first few scanlines at the top but this time it didn’t seem to do any good. Had this problem once before a long time ago. Was ablt to correct it by using a black generated media above and covering the top of the video to hide the scan lines but this one was a bear.

I got 3 projects to finish by July 1st. So on to the next one.
    Thanks
