  • Problem printing 23.98 timeline to 29.97 drop frame tape

I am trying to master an hour long documentary that was shot in 23.98 HDCAM and edited in 23.98 DVCProHD in Final Cut Studio 2 with a Kona 3 card. I am printing back to an HDCAM deck at 29.97 drop frame, adding 3:2 pulldown. The total running time on my timeline is 56:46, but when I print to tape, the ending timecode is 56:52:04. I thought the whole point of using 23.98 is that it would convert to 29.97 seamlessly. Am I doing something wrong?

you need to compute that 23.98 is NON Drop and your are converting it, the time should work out correctly.
