It’s a puzzler: some of my movies have animated slideshow sections, or just stills outright.

iMovie wasn’t sufficient, so I imported quicktime movie files with some stills from my Mac. The movies and stills look fine on the Mac. However when I insert ’em into Premiere, they look fine up in the Project Window; but when I render to .avi I get a pronounced sizzly, flickery quality— on SOME of the stills; not on all… a puzzler… and Lord help me if I render to Quicktime, that looks really horrible…

I already tried “optimize for stills” also… Maybe one can re-encode the native .mov before importing into Premiere??? Hoping someone might have some words of wisdom.

I am a little confused about what you are saying… do you import the entire .mov file and within that, you have some flickerings? First, are you seeing the flicker on computer screen or on TV? If on TV, deinterlace, if on pc, first you have to isolate the flickering segments, then, cut them apart, apply a “deflickering”. If this does not work, then, the problem is your foreground vs background contrast is too high, you have to manipulate the segement to make that go away.
