  • Problem installing on new Mac

Posted by Jeff Waters on November 16, 2009 at 9:52 pm

    Hello,
I’ve just purchased my 1st mac, a real nice macbook pro. I installed Window 7 (64 bit) through bootcamp and everything is behaving properly. I’ve installed several windows based programs on the bootcamp partition. All is working beautifully… until I get to Vegas.

I’ve tried installing Vegas 9c and installation always stops with the following error:

    Internal Error 2721. SfWMF4Setup

Paid Sony tech support declined to even discuss it with me. I know that people are successfully using Vegas on a Mac, though. Please oh please could someone help me?

    Thanks,
    Jeff

I found my own solution to this:

I went back and verified the versions of EVERYTHING. yes, Snow Leopard, Bootcamp 3.0… but then I noticed when booting into Window 7 that there was an “N” after the Windows 7 name. “Windows 7 N”.

After some digging, I found that the European Union forced Microsoft to offer a version of Windows that does not come bundled with Windows Media Player and associated assets. Not sure how, but this is what my IT guy gave me!

I found the upgrade for the media pack here:
    https://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=31017ed3-166a-4c75-b90c-a6cef9b414c4

After installing this, the Vegas Pro 9c install went smoothly!

I happen to be running on a Mac, but I believe this error would have occurred on any PC running an “N” version of Windows.

    Hi!
I am having the same problem, except I don’t have the N version. Do you mind walking me through how your installed Sony Vegas on your computer, please?
I have a MacBook Pro and Windows 7. I put the disc in and I can see it on my Mac page, but not on my Windows page. Help! 🙂
