  • Problem in reverse in FCP 7

    Hi

I am working on XD CAM 422 1080i 50 format and HDCAM Uncompressed 10 bit and FCP version 7.0.1 Mac OS leopard 10.5.8 the problem:
Whenever I try and reverse shots it isnt smooth there are jitters whereas the same shot which I reversed in FCP 6 was smooth. I was told to get upgraded to Snow Leopard but I cant do that as Sony XDCAM transfer software (2.10 or 2.11) works only on leopard and are not coming out with a new version (2.12) till March 2010 . My question is if anybody else has faced similar problem or anybody who has a solution.

    Thanks for your time!

    Regards

Never used those codecs myself but one of the main issues with reversing clips in FCP7 for me is the field order gets swapped. Stupid bug.
Try rendering the clip and then importing the render file. Get properties and change the filed order, even if you think it’s supposed to be progressive.

Snow Leopard has nothing to do with this.

Have you tried applying a shift field filter to the reversed shot? It might be applied after frame blending in which case it might not work.

Nattress filters has a reverse plugin (G Reverse)that fixed field order.

This was back in the earlier days of FCP but may work with FCP7 as you are describing the same old problem that was around in FCP4 days

Hi there, you say problem is solved but can you please explain what you did? I am having the exact same issue in FCP7 with my HDV footage.
