PROBLEM : Importing only 1 part (like 20sec/one scene) of long videoclip possible??
hi there,
I have abit of a problem. I need to do a compilation of alot of movies. now, i know which scenes I like (by seeing it). But from the +/- 20 movies (each quite big, 1.5 hours) I need some shots and not all. Before I try to import each one of them and trime the place down: Is there any advanced importing dialog, or some trick where you can say from which time to time from the 1 movie clip you would like to import.

Importing assets into Premiere is unlike with Photoshop and other apps. You are simply creating a link inside the project window to external assets, not creating additional files (except for Conformed Audio).

yep, I knew that allready (otherwise I would have noticed in media cache file). As I thought allready(wasn’t sure), such feature doesn’t exits (importing segments that I specifiy) mayby there is some plugin or other trick for it, but than you would have known that.

In PPCS3 you can set the in/out points and capture in/out.

capturing is no problem, that’s even possible in CS2 with in and out points. I on the other hand only mean for big/long video files allready digital. but I saw PP only makes a reference file, it doesn’t importing the whole one and stores it in some media cache file (does it only with audio), so that makes things nicer. I now only need to cut alot of footage away, but that’s no problem I guess
