Hi I am currently color correcting a documentary.
The interviews are shot with the style of everything is black but the interviewee is lit up in a black room.
Some of the interviews you can see the wall in the background where its suppose to be pitch black.
Its very faint, but can see on brighter monitors.

How can I fix this? As its shot on a mono-pod (not still) and always zooming in and out.

I do have very definitive lines of light and dark though (interviewee lit up – background black).
Just trying to get rid of that faint wall that can see on the black background.
I know there must be a way for the comp to motion key out that without key framing an 8 point matte. (cause there is a lot to do!)

Anyone know let me know thanks!

Crush the blacks…then bump the highlights to make up for it. And the mids a smidge. You can also vignette the shot.

Why not post a frame of your interview so we can give you very precise assistance.

In the meantime, Shane has given you the standard solution. He did however leave out one small detail, which is that you should use the 3-way color correction filter to do the things he mentioned.
