Problem exporting

Even though you are chose the external drive as the place to save the file to, it is still important to have plenty of free space on the system drive. This is because as the computer is working it writes temporary times to the internal (and with video those temporary file can get large).

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS leave 10-15% of your system drive free if not more.

There are no “technical solutions” to your “artistic problems”.
Don’t let technology get in the way of your creativity!

I don’t think so as when the Mac first installed it, it would have formatted it in Mac format no? But it is a drive that takes both Mac and PC systems.

If is formated for PC and Mac: THEN IS FAT 32.
You can not edit with a drive like that because you can not manage files bigger than 4 GB.
You need format the HD as MacOS Extended (NO Journaled).

Thanks for prompt reply. I am looking at it and the big drive is formatted MacOS Extended. The system drive (smaller) is formatted MacOS Extended (Journaled). Is there something wrong with this?

Hi Emmanuelle,
Sorry I’ve been far from internet the last three days.
There is some contradiction in your information.
If your HDs are formated as MacOs Extended, thas correct.
But in this case they can not be managed by a PC unless you use MacDrive or any other application that allows PC to control Mac formated HDs.
One of your HDs is Journaled. Normally is recommended “no Journaled” for media drives. However this is can not be the cause of your problems when exporting.

Hi Rafael,

There is no “pc” involved if you are referring to a nonMac computer.

The drive’s instruction said to do it journaled…

I checked for viruses, spyware and it found none. However, out of the sudden the computer started kind of “reloading” and taking you from FCP to the Finder window, whether you wanted to or not. I have Tiger in my system and once I added a program called Mac OSX Planet (now removed). Do you know of any program like Conflict Catcher?
