    Hi,

I am having trouble authoring a master DVD from my 70 minute 30frame ProRes movie file.

When I export from the timeline in FCP7, the file and subtitles look perfect. I then use compressor to encode to the mpeg2 media using the DVD: BEST QUALITY 90 MINUTES setting.

The result is that the image and motion of the movie becomes horribly interlaced (unwatchable) – and the subtitles look solid.

I then reused compressor – changing the output field to PROGRESSIVE (resize, deinterlace, rate conversion set to BETTER). The result is now the image looks perfect, but the subtitles look like shit – really flimsy and almost flicker when there is movement behind them to the point where its distracting.

Clearly I am no pro with this – anyone have any thoughts or solutions?

    Thanks in advance

    Russ,
you couldn´t give less informations on your project.

what is you sequenz-codec? what framerate? size? what is the original-codec of your footage?

how did you implement the subtitle into the DVD? using DVD Studio Pro with STL-text?

or did you use FCP-text-tool and render out the text “burned in” into your final video?

    cheers

    danny
