  • PROBLEM : display out from AE + FCP

Hey guys…i just got a brand new 23″ Sony HD Monitor that can display
    480/720/1080..

I have my Blackmagic DecklinkHD connected to it. The BNC is hooked up from
the Declink’s monitor out SDI port to the HD-SDI input on the Monitor’s box.

After adjusting the display thru the mac’s display settings…it runs pefect
at 1280×720 / at 60p (computer setting is at 60Hz) I tried to have it as
1080, but it jitters..and the Decklink only supports up to 30Hz.

Now this is the problem I’m running into.

The footage I create in after effects looks rough and not sharp like it is
    on the cinema display..

At first I thought it was because the composition is at D1.. But after
messing with the video previews, I noticed that blackmagic has
presets..there was one marked as HDTV 720p/60Hz 8-bit…so I selected that
    one..and the after effects CRASHED!!!

Anyway…i’ve messed around in switching the comp settings to match that of
the blackmagic’s output and still no clear text..it looks rather rough and
    pixelated.

I am unsure as to what setting the AE or the BlackMagic should be set at in
order to receive an image similar to my current display.

Furthermore, when I click on the desktop..the desktop signal goes thru
perfect..which is the aggravating part..it displays right, but through After
effects (And FCP for that matter) its wrong.

(btw..the G5’s 133Mhz PCI port is occupied by the fibre channel card..so decklink is one port below at 100Mhz)

    Any help is much appreciated!

    Eddie.
