    Hi,

I’m having a problem capturing from a VHS video player.

The tape plays perfectly from the player to the TV monitor. But when I try to record directly from the VHS to DVD player (this is an all in one machine) the quality was terrible. Strange as the image on the TV monitor is perfect.

Decided to try and capture the video tape as an avi, in Premiere and then export as a DVD. A bit long winded yes, but thought this would work.

    The image was still bad!

Any ideas what the problem is? Is it to do with compression?

Drop me a line if you can help, please! Got to get the job done asap…

    Thanks in advance,

    Bruce.

Is the tape copy protected? What analog/digital converter are you using?
Are you trying to watch the tape on a TV AND capture at the same time? If yes, what kind of distribution amp are you using?
