    Hi.

I made a quicktime movie from an about 20 minutes long sequence in FCP. I brought it to DVDSP. It is not a huge file. it is on an external hard drive, which has more than 200 GB free space, and my internal hard drive has about 70 GB left. Yet the encoding won’t work.

This is the error message in the log:

    Build cancelled
Building was not successful. See log.
    Starting DVD Build
    Compiler Initializing…
    Precompiling Project
    Parsing Assets…
    Encoding Assets…
    Error while encoding file

What could be the problem? It has worked before with longer quicktime movies.

    Thanks!

    Annu

[Annu Lilja] “Error while encoding file”

Your error log has told you that it’s a corrupt piece of video/graphic or a render file. You could watch your FCP sequence during playback and look for something obvious but the most common reason is a bad render file. It would take time to find out which render file is the bad one but since your project is 20 min. my recommendation is to trash all render files and then re-render. Then export your project again for encoding.

And what codec, size, etc is the clip you are sending?
    Is a Reference movie?
