Problem Backing Up Events Onto Another Drive
Hey Kids…
I have just started making the transition to FCP X and have run across an interesting issue. I have always (with FCP7) backed up my project drive every night onto my trusty Drobo. No problems…always protected if my project drive threw a rod.
I have done the same thing with FCP X and something is throwing me. I have 4 events in the project I am working on right now. Last night I backed the whole project drive up (and the drive has my 4 events on it). I checked the Drobo this morning and of course there were the contents of my project drive (including the 4 events). Cool.
BUT…when I fired up FCP X I got a warning message about a conflict and when I checked OK two of the events were recognized by FCP X on the project drive but FCP recognized the other two events on the Drobo…so it split up the events across two drives when in fact all four events were on the Project drive as well as the Drobo.
Does having back ups of the events confuse FCP X and make it start randomly recognizing events. Obviously I only want to be working on events in my project drive not the backed up versions on the Drobo. Am I missing a key fact when trying to back up my events (and projects for that matter) and creating some sort of parallel universe that baffles FCPX?
The crucial question…how do I best back up/protect my events and/or projects on a daily basis?
Thanks.
