First of all let me express my appreciation for the responses that I have
gotten from the ACE’s and others to my earlier queries. Heartfelt “THANKS”
    to you all!!
new problem: I am experiencing a disappearing pointer. Thanks to the help
I got with importing snapshots from Photoshop to Premiere, I successfully
imported and panned and zoomed on the photos. NOW, after combining the four
sequences into a movie that I am about ready to burn, there are three move
photos to include in it. BUT, when I bring them onto the timeline and select
one to adjust the size, the pointer disappears as I click to scroll a change
in the number values. If I move the invisible pointer off the Premiere
screen onto the tool bar, it reappears there but not on the Premiere screen
until some seconds have passed. Then it reappears as the hand with right and
left arrows. Some moments later the arrow reappears. All the while, no
scrubbing has occured. The photos remain as before.
Incindentally, I moved to some photos that I had successfully adjusted earlier to test the problem, and the same thing happens. Have I inadvertant-
ly selected something that affects the situation unknowingly? Or maybe com-
bining everything into a complete movie has something to do with it? I really don’t think the last idea has anything to do with it, however.
It’s got me buffaloed. I find nothing in the manuals or “how to” books that
    even hint at the issue.
    “Thanks” for any help!

I have heard of this issue happening with some newer Nvidia drivers, and not just with Premiere.

If you do own an Nvidia card, you could try getting a newer version of the drivers or rolling back to a previous one.

Vince…thanks for your quick response. My graphics driver is an ATI cata-
lyst driver that was downloaded and updated from ATI in an attempt to solve
another problem before I successfully imported from Photoshop Elements and
adjusted other photos. Also, I have scanned with my Spysweeper and AVI anti-virus. It seems that everything I do is strewn with booby traps of
some kind. I still get “stutters” in some attempts to burn dvds out of my
    Sony application.
Here’s another question that I have to deal with…my Sony burner is an 8X
for DVD-R’s. Can I burn using 16X blank DVD’s? What must I look
out for if attempting to use these DVD’s?
    Thanks

Alright… well, you could always try the good old system restore if this just started happening recently, but the first thing I would do is go to start > run and type msconfig; then go to the start up tab and disable everything but the antivirus, and possibly keyboard and mouse. You should be able to tell what they are by looking at the command column. See if that resolves things, but you are probably just pushing the inevitable clean OS install if indeed you have spyware going around in there.

Of course some programs are smartly written and will try to start up again behind your back…

As for the 16x dvds, you should be able to get a firmware upgrade from Sony. I would look here: (https://esupport.sony.com/perl/select-system.pl?DIRECTOR=DRIVER&ref=http%3A//www.sony.com/index.php

If you are planning on buying a whole pallet of DVDs it might be worth shooting an email at them to be sure 😉

    Cheers,

    Vince

I have done two systems restore…the first to two weeks ago with no effect.
the second back to the second week in october. What I have now is the same
results, but it seems that Effect Controls are all balking. I can’t
move sliders, the timeline freezes. I can click the values and
change them on the keyboard, but everything balks and then changes.
But numbers and sliders will jump back and forth.
The problem is in Pro 1.5. There is something clicked somewhere
that is crippling the system. I can’t reinstall at this time. I
have three months invested in this project that just needs these
three photos adjusted, and I’m ready to burn it to DVD.
