ProAnimator V7 Crashes AfterEffect CC
Posted by Holt Adams on September 25, 2013 at 4:31 pmJust downloaded the new ProAnimator V7 as an AE Plugin (CC) and it crashes AE immediate when adding the effect to a solid layer…with no error messages ((Just amends AE)…anyone else having this issue….looked on the Zaxwerks support site..but didn’t find anything that would provide insight to this problem.

September 25, 2013 at 7:23 pmI just purchased the upgrade today and installed it into both AE CS6 and AE CC. No problems with either. Running Windows 7.

September 26, 2013 at 4:47 pmHello Holt.
Could you provide some info on your setup?
– Are you using the current version of AE (12.0.0.404)?
– Did the installation of PA go ok?
– What are the details of your machine?
– Mac Pro? iMac? MacBook?
– How much RAM
– What type of GPU?Finally, how do you apply the effect? And what exactly do you see when you apply it?
Thanks.

September 26, 2013 at 5:21 pmA popup After Effects Error message does occur when AE crashes stating “After Effects Error: crash occurred while invoking effect plug-in ‘ProAnimator”
The following is my system setup
– MacBookpro with 16 GB or Ram, 2.7 GHz, Intel Core i7
– MAC using OSX 10.8.5
– External monitor (Apple 27″ Cinema display)
– Installation of PA went fine….no issuesWhen I check the System Report it lists the following under the Graphics/Display
– Intel HD Graphics 4000, Type=GPU, Bus=Built-in
– NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M, Type=GPU, Bus=PCieI have the AE crash issue with and without the cinema display plugged in.
When the Cinema Display is plugged and I start AE CC, I get a Warning popup window stating “Ray-tracing on the GPU requires CUDA version 4.0 or later Ray-tracing will use the CPU until you install the latest supported CUDA Driver”. I’ve gone to the adoble web site…and have installed CUDA V5.5, but this Warning message continues to popup when I restart AE CC. hmmmm
I still have the ProAnimator V6 standalone installed and that opens okay…but since I installed ProAnimator V7 plug-in….it appears that my previous v6 is not longer installed.

September 26, 2013 at 9:36 pmHi Holt.
Please check your /Applications/Adobe After Effects CC/Plug-ins folder.
Are there two Zaxwerks ProAnimator folders?
Do you have any other Zaxwerks plug-ins installed?
If so, try moving the other Zaxwerks plug-ins to your Desktop and try again.
Move them back if it doesn’t make a difference.Let’s see if there’s a conflict.

September 26, 2013 at 11:51 pmI have several other Zaxworks plugins….moved them outside of the AE CC/Plug-in folder and was able to utilize ProAnimator V7.
So….If I want to upgrade to V7…and still use my other Zaxwerks products…what do you suggest I do long term?
Thanks, Holt

September 27, 2013 at 4:12 pmHi Holt.
Please email the list of plug-ins that you have.
We’ll get you versions that don’t conflict.
There’s a low-level technical reason that this conflict
sometimes occurs on some Mac machines.Send the list (include version numbers) to: matt (at) zaxwerks.com
Thanks.

September 27, 2013 at 5:44 pmI appears its the Zaxwerks 3D Layer Tool folder in the AE CC / Plug-in folder that is causing the issue….ProAnimator V7 works fine in demo mode if I remove it and leave all my other Zaxwerks plug-ins. I’ll forward you the details.
Thanks for working on this
