ProAnimator 3D Object transported into After Effects
Posted by Ed Daher on July 15, 2008 at 11:54 pmI apologize if I might sound a little ignorant but, I am new to ProAnimator and I created a 3D object with a chrome material in Pro Animator. I want to transport it with all it’s attributes into After Effects and be able to rotate it and move it around as I could do in Pro Animator. Is it possible?
Thanks,

July 16, 2008 at 1:36 amHi Ed,
You could save a scene in PA and open it in PA for AE. If you are after the object only, then export a 3D object in the ZXO format to keep your mapping, then import the object in PA for AE.
Does this make sens?

July 16, 2008 at 8:21 pmHi Serge,
Thanks for your quick response to my post. With your suggestions, I was able to import the object into AE but it comes in as an image rather than an object that can be rotated to view all sides of the object. Maybe I’m asking for something that cannot be done in AE since AE is not a 3D editor. The other option is try to import a video clip into PA and maybe then I can do my object rotations. I’m afraid this isn’t an option either.
Thanks again for your help.

I don’t get it. What did you do? Again, you should in your PA Stand Alone click on the Object Mode icon (Blue Cube) then open the Object menu and click on Export 3D Object. (Use the ZXO Format)
In AE you create a new comp and a solid, apply the PA plug-in to your solid, navigate to the set-up window, make sure you are in Object Mode and use the same object menu this time to Import 3D object
It sounds to me now that I think about it that you are rendering a frame or movie out of PA. Are you? If so, forget about it as this will of course never work.
let us know.
Salut.

July 16, 2008 at 11:35 pmSerge,
Thanks again for your help. I finally got it to work. Although, I was hoping I could animate my PA object in the AE interface but now I realize that all the animating needs to be done in PA first and then it will be updated in AE. Unless there is something else I need to know.

Invigorator pro does exactly what you are after. PA has it’s own animation interface and technique as you noticed.
Salut.
