  • Pro Tools and Internal Intel Mac Raid?

Posted by Dan Nethery on July 22, 2009 at 5:26 pm

I just put 3x 500GB Seagate Drives in my Intel Mac Pro and Raided them 0 with 32kb sector size with Mac Disk utility. I made sure the raid was formated Mac OS Extended (Journaled) as per Pro Tools LE Setup Guide.

Pro Tools will not let me set the raid to Playback or Record…. Does any one have any ideas why or what I should do?

    Thanks for the help,
    dan.

Hello Dan and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.

I think that question would be better answered by someone on the Digidesign Users Conference.

3 x RAID 0 is writing the same file across three files with no redundancy. Maybe PTLE needs to see the files in one place. I have a Mac Pro with separate internal media drive. No problems with PTLE and a Digi 002 running ptle 7.4.

    Hi Dan,

To amplify Ty’s point, why would you need RAID? It seems everyone elses PTLE systems run fine just using straight project drives, no RAID… In fact, I’ve never encountered a PT system that had a RAID array. Is there something we’re missing?
