I am setting up a edit bay for a Studio client.
They are shooting and posting on the HDV format.
    They want Final cut pro.
As sony has the cameras and deck they have a chance to Get Vegas out if front now. My comment is that they are using sony cameras and decks and format, why not sony editing software?

As a Film Telecine colorist, I like the picture better in Vegas.

What would you recomend as a Vegas turnkey set-up with tec support? Is there a company that does this?
also what do I say reguarding the comparison with a final cut set-up

The Vegas sony tec support is terrible, but maybe the final cut apple support is not any better?

    Jobs are:
Master to tape and author DVD
Master to tape, bump up to HD, Is that possible? or digibeta and broadcast.
Plus website clips and fram grabs
    thanks, Greg

[Greg Lewolt] “My comment is that they are using sony cameras and decks and format, why not sony editing software?”

In all honesty, the two don’t really go together. The “Why Vegas” should be on the merits of Vegas – not because they’re using a Sony camera.

[Greg Lewolt] “What would you recomend as a Vegas turnkey set-up with tec support?”

There are several companies that will build you a Vegas workstation. You might check at VideoGuys to see a system they built and/or see a list of possible vendors. Another that comes to mind is Boxx.

Tech support comes directly through Sony. You can also get a lot of support on the forums (like this one).

I would not totally agree with this statement. I know it could be better but I definitely would not rate it as “terrible”. Plus, as I mentioned above, you have all the great forums for help as well.

    Thanks, this helps.
I’ll check out the computer vendors, and give it the sales pitch
