Pro Res to MXF Conversion
Hey guys I was wondering if anyone new how to convert the Alexa pro res 444’s into avid mxf dnxhd 36 files, also the person who is hiring me woud like a rec709 LUT applied. IAnyone know a good piece of software to do this in batches. I know mxf files are pretty much natve avid editing files but I’m not that well versed with avid. Is there a Batch program that can do this for me? Any help would be much appreciated.

What version of Avid do you have? MC 5 can import and work with those files. Well, give you access so you can encode to DNxHD.

Not a whole lot you can do.
1)As a *general* rule, finding software that can apply LUTs is really on the pro level.
2)Software that can wrap into an AVID MXF file is also kinda rare.
However, Glue Tools, as well as Nick Shaws Plug-in, can apply a LUT in an FCP Timeline. You can then export that into one of many quicktime flavors for AMA linking…OR, export to a DNxHD file and perform a FAST IMPORT into Avid. Avid will see the .mov as an Avid DNxHD and will wrap it into an MXF wrapper for you, which is 80% faster than importing.
If you have FCP, I recommend this workflow for Avid.
