I’m having some trouble figuring out which is the better codec to use for upscaling SD footage to HD:
    • Apple Pro Res?
    • DVCPRO HD?

I shot a lot of DVCPRO HD footage with my HVX 200 at 720p24pn. I shot an equal amount of footage with my GH1 at 720p60 which imports into FCP as Apple Pro Res. I plan to use roughly the same amount of footage from both my HVX200 and GH1 for my film.

But for upconverting 480i SD video, which codec will yield better results for upconverting SD to HD 720p…Apple Pro Res or DVCPRO HD?

    Any advice is much appreciated,

    Thank you in advance.

ProRes. It’s 10-bit and full raster.
