    Hi All,

Graded an Alexa 1080p 23.98 Pro Res 444 project. Edited in AVID with AMA. Imported via AAF and conformed ok in Resolve. Graded the show and all seems fine.

Then needed to output a Pro Res HQ QT (single file – not for AAF round trip back). Problem is this PRO RES HQ file is wrong – blacks are crushed and looks grainy. My temp solution that worked was to render out as 444, which looked fine, then take into FCP 7 and export out of there as PRO RES HQ, which also rendered fine.

I rendered out “UNSCALED FULL RANGE DATA”.

    Any ideas?

    thx

    1. Just use auto on the render page.
    2. When using AMA avid is set to crush levels on qt. need to go into “adjust source levels” ( or somethng like that) in order to set it to not crush.

    Thx for the suggestions….

I guess I’m wondering what ‘auto’ is doing then…?

ProRes HQ expects scaled video, 4444 expects unscaled. Setting the render to Auto will prevent this from happening in the future as Auto selects the proper scaling for the codec you’ve chosen.
