PRO RES 422 HQ- ever-changing data RATE
Apple Pro res 422 has just been approved by Discovery HD Theater for international acquisition, and
rumor has it ABC will soon be following suit.
Does anybody know why, when capturing 720 59.94p, that some files are coming in at at data rate of 26.3 mb/sec
(similar to 108024p acquisition) while in the same batch capture- some are listed at a low 9.3 mb/sec.
It’s a bit disconcerting- is their a quality difference, or why the discrepancy?thanks

It’s because ProRes 422 is a variable data rate codec depending on how complex the footage is. The clips you saw with lower data rate would have been less complex = easier to compress = lower data rate.
