    Hi !
We shall be shooting a short in June and we might be using the PRO 35 adapter and since this is our first time i would like to know any tips that anyone might have and wants to share with me.I have read the manual online and everything looks staight forward.Just wondering if there is something we should be careful about.I am also interested in buying the Goodmans guide to the varicam and looked on the internet and it seems to be out of stock.Any tips ?

    Cheers for the help !

Why use the Pro 35…Get a set of Ziess Digi primes for a GREAT look

I agree with using the HD primes. We had a few issues with the cheap connectors they used on the Pro35 adapt. a few years back. Blew the connection on the power supply on cam. Cost us a few days of production time.
If you decide to go that route, white shade all your lenses and remember to change the settings each time you change out the lens.

We’ve never had any problems with our Pro 35 connectors, and we’ve had it for about 2 years now.

Digi primes are expensive, and still dont offer the same DOF and FOV of the Pro. For Feature work, the Pro is a great way to go. We set our up with a Panavision or PL Mount, and can get primes pretty inexpensively.

You’ll need an assistant who can pull focus, and keep the pro running during the shot. Make sure you get all the bracketry for light and heavy support. Mostly ony need heavy for zooms, but it adapts to the arri sliding plate, and makes balance much easier.

The Goodman’s Guide is available from the VariCam Resellers and many Rental Houses. It is not out of stock. If you can’t find it in one facility, try another. Also, students who attend the HDExpo VariCamps receive the book for free. For dates and locations please go to http://www.hdexpo.net.

    Thanks
