I have some video footage that contains some “private parts” that my director would like me to gently blur. I recall a tutorial on this–I think it was blurring the face of someone in witness protection–but I just don’t remember the actual techniques. Rotobrush perhaps? Some guidance here would be most appreciated before I launch off re-inventing what is probably a well-established wheel

    Thanks

Hmmm, maybe duplicating the footage and applying a camera lens blur or something, and drawing a mask around the desired area, and probably keyframing the position, or if you have CC 2015, then tracking the mask.

track the private parts area, link track data to a Solid layer that has a feathered mask drawn to create a shape that covers the area you need to blur, then use that layer as a track matte on a Adjustment layer that has a blur effect applied to it.
