    Hi everyone.
Just working on a project relating to prisms and their lightdividing capapbilities.
Just wondering if anyone has played around with these kind of effects (from white light breaking it into its different ‘colours’…
Is this actually possible to recreate in c4d, assume not as we are not playing around with real light?!

It might be possible to do using caustics as that uses refraction within cinema…I ‘think’ I’ve seen light dividing, but not sure..It is probably not very controllable, and would definitley be render intensive….Probably a lot easier to just ‘fake’ it using multiple colored light sources..and careful positioning…you can also use materials in cinema lights, so you might be able to create a rainbow colored image and apply it to one light to fake the effect…..

Here is an example of what Mark is talking about. From the description, he used 3 lights (R,G, and B) in 3 seperate passes. But for each pass he changed the angle of incidence on the glassy material a little each time then comped them back together.

Yep, I think that’s the best way to do it in Cinema, since we don’t have true dispersion. Maxwell Render, which is a third-party render engine (beta) with a Cinema connection, can do this for real. Takes forever though.
