Printing to tape with DVX &FCP 4.5
After working on a sequence that’s about 30 minutes long, I went to print it to tape: I’m getting video hits (white horizontal lines), and lack of audio. My media is stored on a Western Digital external hard drive, 120GB (firewire). Now one thing I noticed since the drive is transparent it has an internal LED that lights up as the unit works: The screen disruptions are in perfect sync with the light as it flashes away.
I then tried setting up a sequence storing a few clips on my Mac hardrive,(rather than the external) and that seemed to print to tape smooth w/o the disruptions.
Is there any tweaking I could do in the FCP setting to get a smooth picture/audio? I just got the DVX and have not had problems printing to tape with other cameras that I’ve used in the past. Or is the external harddrive just inferior and should I try switching to a different unit?
Has anyone else experienced problems using their DVX to print to tape? Any help or insight would be appreciated! In a perfect world I’d have a DV deck to print out to, but that’s not the case right now!
