    Hello

A client dropped off a VHS home movie and wants me to extract stills to print “as good quality and as large as possible”

In reality, they are hoping for an 8.5×11 good quality image.

I am wondering if anyone has experience with this? If so, what was the size you were able to get to look good?

I don’t think up-converting the image will make a difference, but I could be wrong?

Please let me know if you need more information.

    Thank you.

    From VHS? To 8.5 x 11?

That is going to be a tough one.

Haven’t done that in a long time! I believe my “best practices” would be to play that VHS tape out of a quality S – VHS player, using S video input, to a decent capture card. Then you could use Photoshop to Deinterlace the footage, then use an application called UpRez. ( or something along those lines). 8 x 10 is kind of pushing it, you might get a decent 5 x 7 with that method. Most likely just tell them they’re going to get a 2 x 3″ print that will look reasonable.

Try using GenuineFractals to bump up the print size.
