I am having trouble laying off HDV projects to tape. I can only lay off masters to tape using Print To Video- however, when I do, the Time Code is completely messed up, and the tape skips around. Yet when it is laying off, everything looks normal. Is this a common problem? I really don’t know what the issue could be as I am following FCP instructions.

    Thanks

I understood, what exactly are you doing and what happens when you do it? Don’t know what the timecode is completely messed up means, or the tape skips around.

    All the best,

thanks for your responses. my problem this; i lay off to tape, using a front slate and color bars, which are on the timeline. when i try to play back the tape on my deck, the color bars and slate play back perfectly. but once the actual video starts in, the time code, as read by the deck, goes blank, and the begins to randomly skip around. the video starts and stops, and plays back in a herky-jerky fashion, almost as if it’s skipping around like a dvd. it’s odd. it’s happened on a few tapes, and the deck plays back other tapes just fine- just not the ones i laid off. i hope that is clearer. thanks again for your help.
