Print to Video 16:9 DV
Posted by Razamataz on February 20, 2007 at 12:45 pmHi, I’m trying to master a 16:9 dv project to tape. The sequence appears 16:9 in the canvas window but when it plays out through firewire to the DV deck it’s 4:3. Any ideas?

February 20, 2007 at 1:59 pmDo you have a TV that has a 16:9 setting? Do the characters look tall and skinny? (if they do then this is normal anamaphoric footage)
If you want a leterbox output create a 4:3 sequence and drop ypur 16:9 sequence into it and render.
Hope this helps,

February 21, 2007 at 8:35 amIt’s defiantly playing out at 4:3 as my monitor can display 16:9. I have also tried to use Edit to Tape but the same thing happens. The video plays out of FCP 4:3 even though everything is set to anamorphic. If I play the clips off the timeline and view through firewire its 16:9 but not with print to video or edit to tape.

February 21, 2007 at 12:19 pmeverything is as it should be … anamorphic 16:9 DV IS 4:3 … it can’t be anything else.
you need to better understand what “anamorphic” means. have a look here https://www.helerab.fi/widescreen it has some pictures!if you want it to be letterboxed, ie 16:9 within th e4:3 picture then you need to drop the 16:9 (anamorphic) sequnece into a 4:3 sequence (not anamorphic) first
