I am pretty sure this started happening after the recent upgrade to the latest version of Vegas 6.0 . . . . whenever I print to tape – it goes thru the “preparing” etc and finally print to tape. If I try to print to tape again – the exact same area (or full project) it goes thru all the prepare to print tape etc stuff again ( a good 5 min to 20 min for large files over 1 hour in length).

    WHY WHY WHY????

Why does it have to prepare the exact same thing again and is unable to detect (like it did before) that nothing has changed and immediately print to tape?

What changed? A setting? A Default? Any clues? This really annoys me (not to mention that the latest version ALSO hanges more often than Vegas EVER did before).

Please don’t give me the obvious things like “defragment your drive) or other no-related things as I have a defragged drive and have uninstalled/reinstalled and the problem persists.

I’ve been using Vegas since 3.0 and only now has this started to happen.

Maybe the option in Options – Preferences to automatically save the pre-renders?

nopwe that is checked and is a default to be checked – still does it.

Why don’t you try it and see if it does for you what I describe also?

Okay, tried it and not having that problem. So it’s possible in 6.0d.

if you print from TL – it has to render out all sections that had FX’s /transitions applied .. it also renders out the audio track ..
i have no problem printing from TL and you don’t see that many post having that problem .. which then leads to your computer set up ??

you might try setting the RAM preview to 0 ( zero)

try dropping a 1-5 min clip in a NEW project TL ( not the current project) and see if you can print that to tape ? there maybe a problem with your current Veg file ( damaged/errors in it)

is vegas freezing on start up = vegas windows pops up but it hangs on the media manager ?
or is it freezing during editing ?

Prior to printing to tape, did you render your entire project to a new track?

Since Vegas pre-renders on PTT, there is really no reason to “render to a new track”. You can manually pre-render as well.

If I was going to create an entirely new file, I’d just do a plain render to a new DV-AVI file and then use IT for the PTT – don’t have to worry about forgetting and accidentally doubling the audio that way.
