For some reason when I print video from Final Cut 4, onto my camera through my firewire, ONLY the video is recorded, and not the audio… at all. I know it’s not a problem with my camera or firewire, because I can output A/V just fine. Could this be happening because I’m printing video with the wrong dB levels?? What things should I check? I’m a pretty novice tech, so it’s probably very simple, but I’m very confused right now….

Biggest problem most people have is improper placement of audio speakers. So, audio is there – you just can’t hear it because you are not monitoring properly. They should be attached to the deck/cam, not the Mac. Your video monitor/or TV set should also be hooked up to the deck. If you are not set up this way, as indicated in the manual, it causes a lot of confusion amongst newbies.

FCP is more than an app, it’s a system. “Can’t hear my audio” is probably the #1 problem new folks experience. What helps is a good FCP class.
