Using the Panasonic HVX200, I did a commercial shoot in 1060 60i. It needs to be delivered on a mini DV tape. I’m using a Sony A1U as a deck and I need to print to tape.
Can someone tell me how to do this? What do my audio/video settings need to be?

I would create a new Sequence in your browser with DV/NTSC settings. If you want it letterboxed, make it 720X480. If you want it anamorphic, simply check the anamorphic box in the sequence settings menu.

Nest your HD sequence in the SD sequence by dragging it from your browser and dropping it into your SD timeline. It should fill your scale own into your canvas perfectly.

Then File > Print to Tape

    OR

I suppose your could use Compressor to downconvert to DV/NTSC. Then bring that new file into a new project and do a File > Print to Tape.

Sorry – I didn’t explain myself well. I need to keep the footage in 1080i60, I just need to put it on a mini DV tape using a Sony A1U. Can I put DVCPRO HD 1080i 60 footage on a mini DV tape using a HDV camera? What do my audio/video settings need to be?

    Thanks

I would bring your DVCPro HD sequence into Compressor and drop the HDV1080i60 setting on it, then export.

Being the new file back into a new sequence into FCP. When you drop it into the new sequence, FCP will ask you if you want to sequence to match your source video’s settings…. obviously in this case, Yes.

You should be able to export to tape then.

You can’t cross convert to DV on the fly unless you have an outboard video card or Io box. Makes sense, right?

I did what Rob suggested, compressed the video to HDV 1080i60, using compressor and when I go to Print to Video, it gives me the error message: “The sequence is not compatible with HDV print to video”

The sequence is HDV 1080i60, which FCP automatically set to what I dropped the compressed file onto the timeline.

Sounds like a few tests are in order.
Can you try compressing a small portion of the seq. to different format, say, an anamorphic format? 1440 x 1080?
