Print a list of logged P2 clips

May 20, 2009 at 6:17 pmIs there any way to print a list of P2 clips that I have logged from the “Log and Transfer” window? I’m working on a doc style edit with over 1000 clips and I would like to keep a paper record of all the clips that I have logged, and then be able to add notes or edit the list when I need to.
I know a lot of editors will make a paper list of all the clips and time codes upon first viewing so it’s easier to keep track of clips and make a paper edit, so to speak. It seems like there would be a simple “print list of logged clips” or something like that, but I can’t seem to find anything of that nature.
Any suggestions?

May 20, 2009 at 7:02 pmHey Will, thanks for the quick response. That is definitely pretty close to what I’m looking for. The only problem is you have to capture the footage to a bin before you can print that list. What I would like to do is log the clips (add a name, notes, etc) in the “Log and Transfer” window and then print that list with time codes and notes. Basically I’m looking for a way to keep track of all the clips on paper so I can narrow down the clips that actually need to be captured later.

May 22, 2009 at 2:59 amYou can log your clips using L&T, export a batch list, then open that up in a word processor or spreadsheet and print that. No need to capture the shots before you export & print. And you can sort the different columns in a spreadsheet to create different lists.
I think it’s File>Export>Batch List.

May 22, 2009 at 4:59 amThanks Arnie, but I must be missing something. The only Batch List I can create is a list of the clips in the browser. If the L&T window is active and I go to file>export>batchlist, the batchlist option is greyed out.
Just so I understand you, are you saying you can name the clips, maybe add Ins & outs and then export a list of those clips before you capture them to the browser? If so, please explain it to me like I’m 8 years old 🙂

May 23, 2009 at 3:05 amWhen you log clips with Log & Capture, the clips appear in your bin as you log them and before you capture them. You would simply close L&C, then export your batch.
I don’t know if you can do this with L&T. It’s something you’d need to look up in the manual and experiment with.

May 23, 2009 at 7:38 pmThanks again for your time Arnie. Apparently this can not be done with Log and Transfer. I have read the manual, tried experimenting with every option available to the Log and Transfer window, and googled everything I could think of. That was before I even made the original post, which is why I brought my question to the cow.
If anyone else knows of a way to print a list of clips logged in the Log and Transfer window, I’m all ears (or eyes in this case).
This should certainly be a standard feature.. maybe it’s time to make a request.
