Primera Bravo II printer
Posted by Hector Melendez on June 9, 2005 at 6:16 amAny of you have ever used the Primera Bravo II DVD printer?
I have a moderate volume of DVd for printing… the Epson R200 is driving me crazy… is so slow and the disc tray is rejected many times.
I have decided to buy a auto loader printer but will like to know any opinion about this printer.thks

June 9, 2005 at 8:40 amI have a Primera Bravo I DVD/CD duplicator and printer and find it brilliant. I do short runs of DVD’s and CDs as part of my video and music business. Recently duplicated and printed 200 CDs in a day (copy and verify every time), loading up 25 at a time (max without the optional extra feature).
I could not imagine how awkward this would be feeding 1 at a time through my Epson R800 printer. Just load, run and forget.
My CD and DVD’s now look much more professional than using labels.
Next is to consider if additional cost of laminating is worth it. No-one has yet complained of ink running but this is always possible with inkjet printed discs.
Only concern I have, but may be same as all other makes of duplicator printers, is the single source cartridges which appear expensive against equivalent looking HP ones.

June 9, 2005 at 2:34 pmAfter 1.5 years of constant problems with Epson 960, R200 and R300’s disc printers, I recently researched and purchased a Primera Bravo Pro system($2,500.00). This unit has two Plextor 16X DVD Burners and can handle up to 100 disc loads at a time plus print. We easily completed a 500 disc run with no problems. Got a low ink warning at about the 450 disc mark and changed to a new cartridge ($41.00), although it may have finished printing the order. It averages about 3.5 minutes per DVD to burn and print, based upon a full capacity DVD source and a medium print setting. This morning completed a 300 disc CD order with no printing. The source disc was about 260 megs. Each disc burned in an about 1.5 minutes at 48x. From the reviews and from this first experience, the Pro unit gets very high marks.

What kind of problems are you having? If your unit is still under warranty, demand a new unit or a tray. The replaced my R200 with a new “revision” and did not have the tray loading problem.

June 10, 2005 at 3:37 pmThanks all for the feedback…
Aanarav: the problem with the R200 is that it won’t eject the tray at all and have to be reset everytime… this printer for the price is good but for large quantities is not adecuate. It need to be attended constanstly to see if the process going ok… for 3 or 4 disc is ok. -

June 10, 2005 at 5:11 pmI’ve heard there’s a small sense switch on the 200, that gets slightly out-of-whack, and causes the tray problems you describe. A simple adjustment is required. If you’re a tinkerer, you could probably locate and adjust it. If not, that fancy Bravo burner/printer looks like a good, more complete solution.
