I am looking for some cost estimation to shoot & edit and author a training DVD. Production requires two persons on the set plus some on camera talking head. All shooting will be done with one DV camera in one day. Approximate length of the final product is about 2- 2,5 hours with basic chapter DVD menus and basic graphics (no 3D).
The whole project has to be finished in 2 weeks. I would love to have some thoughts or advice on how much to charge for this gig.
    Thanks

You need to break down the project.

How long will it take to shoot this?
How many people on your crew?
    What are their day rates?
    What’s your day rate?
What’s your day rate for all of the equipment?
What’s your mark-up going to be?
How long will the editing take?
What’s you edit rate per hour or day? The same for authoring, graphics, etc.
    What’s your client’s budget?
What do want to walk away with at the end? Profit?
hat are production rates in your area, based on someone with your level of experience

The problem we often have is exactly this. A client contacts us with how much does it cost to produce a 2 hour DVD ? It all depends on what goes into the project, and what your rates and profit margin are.
