Previous button problem on chapter playlist
Posted by Christos Gakis on September 22, 2008 at 10:35 amHi there!
I have made a DVD with 52 timelines and I put them in to a chapter
playlist for the “Play all” button.
It works just fine but when I push the previous button it goes at
the beginning of the current chapter and it won’t go to the previous one. Please if you have a solution I would be thankfull.

September 22, 2008 at 1:05 pmDo you mean a playlist? Playlists can contain timelines, slideshows, chapter playlists, etc.
If you press the previous button twice, does it take you to the previous chapter?

Yes I mean that I have made a chapter playlist with my timelines
for the “play all” button. Each timeline its 1 chapter. But when I play the play all the previous
button does not work and it just get me at the start of the current
chapter. I’ve press it twice an many more times but it doesn’t work.
Thanks for the respond -

September 22, 2008 at 3:29 pmSo help me understand – you have 52 clips in 52 timelines with one chapter each? And each timeline is in this playlist?
Or do you have a single timeline with 52 chapters? And each chapter is in this playlist?

September 22, 2008 at 3:44 pmYes to your first and second question.
I have 52 timelines and each one of them
is a single chapter. And all of them are in the playlist.
I hope that I help you to understand me.
Thanks -

September 22, 2008 at 3:47 pmYes, that helps.
Unless you need to have 52 timelines, I’d suggest that you use a single asset with 52 chapters in a single timeline, and then use a chapter playlist instead of a playlist.
Chapter playlists can be navigated previous and next chapters, but playlists can only be navigated to the next item, not the previous item.

September 22, 2008 at 4:10 pmThank you very much for your suggestion but I can’t work with 1 single asset because it’s 3half hours animation educational video with subtitles. So I think that this is a good reason why I can’t
work with a single asset.
Is there a posibility to work on cs3?
If you have another suggestion I will thankfully hear it.
Thank you -

September 22, 2008 at 4:27 pmNo, Encore CS3 won’t help, as it’s feature set in DVD authoring is pretty much the same as Encore 2.0.
If being able to go to a previous video is important, then you must consolidate your timelines into as few as possible. There’s really no reason why you can’t use just one timeline.

September 24, 2008 at 9:58 amThank you very much for your time and your help.
I prefer to leave it as it is than re-edit and reauthor
all the work I have done.
I hope one day they will fix this bug.
Thanks anyway.
