I’m trying to re-cut my demo reel using my old G4 450 MHz and Premiere 5.1c. The video part of the preview on the computer screen freezes after a few seconds. I remember I would get around this by playing the preview on to a video monitor which I no longer have. I have my Sony TRV900 DV Camera hooked up and the same playback problem exists on the camera’s LCD screen.

Is there another solution, instead of getting another video monitor?
Where is the bottleneck? It is the processor, video card or something else?

I have a processor upgrade that I’ve not installed yet. It’s a OWC Mercury Extreme G4/933MHz-1GHz with 2MB L3 Cache. Will that fix it or should I return it and save some money by plugging in an old TV? I’m not sure of the electronics and how or why my setup was functional in the past. Can anyone offer some options and or solutions?

    Thanks
