  • Preview window jumps to small size

I’ve been using Vegas Pro 9 for about a month now and am getting it figured out. However, I have a strange issue that I can’t figure out. When I open the program and load my project everything is as it should be. I start with my preview window docked. If I play the timeline it previews normally in whatever quality setting I choose. If I undock the window, again it works fine. But then it seems that sometimes when I redock the window, the preview screen is much, much smaller. If I undock it, again it’s fine and I can manipulate the size. Re-dock after that and the issue continues. If I resize the docked window window by pulling it down, it resizes, but remains very small within the frame. For example, in my current project, the preview screen inside of the docked window is 13 x 9 cm. Then there is a 5 x 4 cm gray border between the preview screen and the docked window edge. So by aspect ratio \ perspective it could be larger. I’ve looked for a way to change this and can’t find it. If I restart the program it returns to a larger preview screen with one edge touching the border of the window. I’m wondering if maybe I’m accidentally hitting a key combination that is doing it. Any help appreciated.
    Thanks

Right click and see if “adjust size/quality for optimal playback” is checked or not. Clear it, save, re-open project.

You also consider using an external preview monitor if you have a 2nd video card/DVI connector. That pesky preview screen is just too small to edit in… .

Thx Douglas, that seemed to do the trick! Sometimes it’s the simplest thing, but if you don’t know …

And yes, I should consider getting a second monitor. Would make things easier.
