preview purgatory
Okay, this one has me scratchin’ my head.
Suddenly (it seems) a lot of video in my timeline shows up with the green bar and, although all settings look right (quality=high, rt=safe, etc.), the video looks really soft until I render it, which needs to be forced by selecting “render only >preview”. Any ideas?
I’m running AJA KONA 3 on a quad-core intel mac with 4gigs of ram….

Sounds like your sequence settings don’t match the source material’s properties. FCP 6 mixes them in a preview mode much like unrendered effects were in earlier versions.
