  • Preview problem in Sony Vegas Pro 12

    Hi!

Every time I open a relatively big project in Sony Vegas Pro 12, it takes a very long time for it to actually play/preview. When I press play the first time, nothing happens, and so it continues for let’s say 17 trials. Then suddenly on my 18th trial, it all starts and now everything works perfectly. No lags, no crashes. Nothing!

These are my PC specifications (In swedish, sorry): https://imageshack.us/f/607/specse.png/

Anyone encountered this problem before? Any solution?

    Thanks in advance!

You’re specs look OK although I would have went with a Core i7 for video editing instead of the Core i5 but that’s not your problem. What codec does the video you are editing use? It may be something that takes a while to decode. Also what type of hard drive do you keep these files on? Internal? external USB? external Firewire/eSATA?

I’m thinking the problem might be with your media.

    PROBLEM SOLVED!

I had lots of files in the project stored on my external hard drive. Transfering them to my PC’s hard drive fixed the problem! Thanks!

Yea, external drives are fine for a few files but if you have too many files open it’s better to use an internal drive. Glad you found it.
