Vegas7. What’s the procedure for being able to preview a mediaFx in Vegas without sending the clip to the timeline first? I can see the results when the clip is added to the TL but cannot preview the Fx chain before.

Also is there appears to be no indication on the thumbnail that a media Fx has been applied to it.

I think I’m doing something wrong here, can someone give me a bit of guidance please.

In the bottom left corner (where the explorer is) you will see the “Video FX” tab. When you go there a menu will be on the left and the effect on the right. First select what you want, such as “Magic Bullet” looks and then the possibilities appear to the right. You can drag one of those effects to either the clip or the timeline. You should see the effect in the preview if the cursor is over the clip.

That’s such a shame and a big failing that I hope Sony will fix in the future. Also the thumbnails should reflect the fx applied as well as an indication that an fx has been applied.

Fast (now Avid x Pinnacle) Studio had these things since version 1, years ago.

    Thanks Alan
