So, I decided to upgrade my video card, and although the preview is now much smoother when it’s not hiccuping (I can now play at Best-Full with no problems) it tends to hiccup on preview every 1 second. In fact, it seems to be hiccuping between seconds, when the frame count goes from ~30 to 1. It is pretty consistent, but sometimes it will not hiccup for a few seconds or the hiccups amount will diminish and then begin again. Also, the audio seems to be lagging just a hair at times. Of course it makes the preview practically unbearable, especially when previewing to a client.

Could this be a setting, or just an incompatibility issue? I’m on Win XP Pro 32-bit.

I was using the ATI Radeon X600 SE w/ 128MB.

    I switched to PNY NVIDIA Quadro NVS 290 x16 w/ 256MB.

I have had the same experience with another machine running 64-bit XP Pro and with a GeForce 7000 Series card. Could it be that Vegas doesn’t like the NVIDIA cards? Are there any known issues here?

    Thanks

This is strange because this problem only seems to be occurring when playing back studio dv25 epk mov clips in the trimmer.

However, as mentioned in the previous post, the problem was more widespread (trimmer, timeline, imported dv clips as well) in the other inflicted machine I had used. This one seems to be mostly okay, but with more jitters than the previous video card.
