  • Preview Disabled in Log and Capture

Hi, I hope someone can help me. I have read other threads on this same subject and have followed the advice, but with no luck.
I am trying to digitize from a Sony DSR-11. Log and Capture in FCP v. 6.06 exhibits the “Preview Disabled” message in the window. I have followed Apple’s suggestion to reinstall QT and that did not help.
If I try to digitize into QT directly, my built in iSight is the only image recorded even though the preference settings are set to the DSR-11.
I can run the deck controls through the log and capture window.
I have a LaCie drive connected to the laptop (using my MacBookPro) and if I disconnect it, I can digitize into QT (it seems to “see” the image from the DSR-11 then) but it will still not digitize into FCP even with the drive not connected.
I’ve made sure the deck’s video mode is set to DV SP instead of DVCAM.
I cannot digitize into iMovie either–same issue–only allows me to use the built in iSight.
    Any ideas

hmm….might be a dumb question, but:

In the Log and Capture window, go into the Clip Settings tab. Is the “Video” checkbox checked?

    Yes. “Video” is selected.
If I switch from the mini-DV tape I’m trying to digitize from (which is Pal) to an NTSC DVCAM tape–then the video shows up in the log and capture window in FCP.

I have the same issue. Did you solve your Preview Disabled in Log and Capture?
Can someone please advise the workaround or solution?

Yes, as it turns out–I thought I had pushed the tiny switch in the back of the DSR-11 to the Pal position, but it was still in NTSC mode. So once I checked it again, managed to push it fully into the Pal position, I was able to successfully log and capture.
