Help me Obe Wan. I’m using a SONY NTSC DV Cam, trying to Log and Capture footage on FCP 4.5 on my G$ Panther but no matter what I do, the colour screen says Preview disabled. The controls work. I can rewind, play e.t.c the cam from L&C screen, but no image appears. Capturing does not work at all.

I’m using Decklink Extreme. Everything worked on my G4 using Matrox Breaker Box and same DV Cam, but not on this machine with Black magic.

in Log and Cap, Device Control is Firewire NTSC, Capture/Input is DV NTSC 48 kHz. VTR is OK. In Audio/Video Setup, everything is DV NTSC 48 kHz,with Video playback on Blackmagic NTSC-8bit, in A/V Devices playback options are Vid – Blackmagic NTSC -8bit. External Vid is on ‘All frames’. I’ve tried all over settings but nothing works. I’m starting to worry that its the Decklink that I paid $Kz for. I’ve called someone from a Multimedia Agency for help, but this didnt work either.

In System Preference under BlackMagic Decklink; Video; Output is Analog NTSC/PAL (y Out) Input is Digital SDI. NTSC Setup is IRE 7.5 as the cam is from the US. The 3:2 pulldown/ Proc Amp is left alone as I have no idea what that is. Using the Blackmagic Deck Control useless as nothing – only a message saying ‘no video input’ on the screen. I’ve played around trying everything in System pref Decklink, but the Deck control still does not change.

    Does anyone have any clue?

First of all make sure that you have NTCS DV as capture preset what seems to be done, the blackmagic card is not doing anything.

Because I do not have FCP5 on my hands I can recomand to check the problems that others have solved…
maybe you have automic duck installed? heard that will makse simmiliar problem

If I understand your post correctly you have your FW cam connected to the Blackmagic.
But in the Blackmagic you have: Video input SDI

Should that not be: Video Input DV NTSC?

No, the camera is connected to the front of the G5 firewire port. Blackmagic Deck Control screen says ‘no video input’. The controls – rew, ffw, play work! but no video shows. This is the same situation for the Log & Capture screen in FCP.

All settings are on NTSC. I’ve played around with using other settings but nothing works. I have print screen previews for anyone who would like to see them. I need someones email though.

I haved stopped work all together now.

Blackmagic DL Extreme doesnt have input outlets for DV, only output and input for HD. Therefore using the Firewire outlet at the front of the G5. Its not the camera cause it worked before on a different machine with diff video card and older FCP.

It has to be simple, but I’ve set everything up logically on NTSC DV of DV firewire where is option available
