    Hi Guys,

Im using AE CS5 and have a 2.23 gHz dual core processor with 4gb (2 x 2gb) ram, I can upgrade to 8gb. I understand this is still very low but cannot replace my computer at this time. I mainly use AE for color grading music videos and making titles sequences for short films.

I have read that After Effects can only handle 2gb per core, is this true? If so it would be pointless upgrading the ram. Any help greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    Jeff

No, that’s false. After Effects CS5 and higher are 64-bit applications, capable of addressing all the RAM in your computer.

Upgrading to 8 GB should give you a performance boost because it will make multiprocessing (running one instance of the Ae renderer on each core) much more practical.
