Hi! Could someone explain how I would prevent a shadow from going off a table, for example, on actual, tracked footage? I’m very new to Cinema 4D..and 3D animation in general. I tracked footage of a table and the ground underneath, and tried putting some text on the table. It tracked perfectly, and I added some lights to make it look a little bit more realistic. The text cast a shadow, which was what I wanted, but it went past the boundaries of the table, and it appeared to be floating at that point.

How would I cut off the shadow at the edge of the table so it looks real? I was using a light, and a floor with a compositing tag if anyone needs to know. Thank you!

Here is what I have right now:

I put extremely subtle shadows so you couldn’t see it going off the table.

You need to create a planar object in the shape/position of the table top and give it a compositing tag. Check the tag’s “compositinig background” box. Then place your footage in a material and drop it on the object. Set the texture tag’s projection to frontal. That should do it.
